Many a night I would stay up cause I could not sleep knowing my husband was overseas...it got lonely but I knew that i would at least get that one letter or that one phone call to know he is okay
and the chance to tell him I miss and love him. even though that didn't
really ease the idea that he was in a dangerous country helping to
defend this country from terrorists.
How easy we tend to forget that they are there while we are here enjoying the everyday free choices and opportunities, to be with family on the holidays, birthdays, going to sports events, doing activities
with family. We could get up go to the store get a coke, or to a
restaurant, go to the movies, go to a car wash, go shopping, take real
showers, have real toilets, have a comfortable
bed to sleep in. Which is better than hearing gun fire, bombing, going
through unexpected sand storms, eating MRE rations, using a porta-potty,
not knowing where you will being sleeping
or if you will even get any sleep. There is much more to the sacrifices
that our men and women give up to give us freedom. That is why we
should give them and all military officials the respect they deserve.
